Abstract:

The DHS service availability questionnaire was designed to measure the availability of family planning and health services in developing countries. Information on service availability from 11 countries surveyed under DHS I is presented here along with a discussion of the service availability questionnaire; an examination of variations in the implementation of the questionnaire; and family planning, health and community-level service availability data.
