Abstract: The present paper tries to understand how household environmental factors affect common child morbidity in a socio-economically backward state of Madhya Pradesh. The study utilizes the data from the third round of the National Family Health Survey(NFHS-3, 2005-06). It is found that common child morbidity like cough, fever or diarrhea is less prevalent among children living in households having better household living conditions like safe drinking water facility, good toilet facility, better socio-economic living conditions etc. Keywords Household, Environmental factor, Child morbidity, Social stress, Developing countries, Madhya Pradesh, India
